It has been one whole year since the post I made showing the Top 10 Blu-rays we needed in horror. I’m posting this follow up to show where we find that list today in just slightly under 365 days. In a world where we have the producer’s cut of Halloween 6 and Night Breed coming to Blu-ray, now is a very exciting time to be a horror fan and collector. Still, out of the original 10 we named here, what is out, what is coming out, and what still needs to be done.
10: Nekromantik/Nekromantik 2
We didn’t get a combo pack like we had hoped, but we will be getting the original Nekromantik from Cult Epics on Blu ray! And who knows maybe if all goes well the other will be coming right behind it late in the year or next year.
09: Madman
People had hoped Madman would come from Code Red, Synapse, or some cool cult label and seeing as how it will be getting a 4K transfer soon from Vinegar Syndrome I think it’s safe to say we got out wish!
08: Nightmare
The long out of print Nightmare did get a limited Blu-ray run from Code Red and it is currently one of the most wanted release out. I myself just ordered mine today! Code Red releases might be hard and at times pricey, but they are worth the effort.
07: Blood Rage
Still no Blood Rage!! It makes me sad that this long out of print slasher from the 80s still has no announced release. The year still isn’t over, however.
06: The Mutilator
The Mutilator and the lack of real release for it has become a legend. The film is now some mystical myth that we wonder at times if it even excist. If a print did exist you’d have to think a release would have been done or announced by now.
05: Sleepaway Camp
One of our favorites, Scream Factory, put this one out this year uncut on Blu-ray! We got what we wanted, but still we hope we aren’t asking too much in wanting two and three to find their ways to Blu-ray.
04: The Return of the Living Dead 2/The Return of the Living Dead 3
No word yet on either of these. We can hope that one of these days we see these two in a combo or stand alone release. We don’t need to even ackowlege he movies that came in this series after these two.
03: Blood Diner
It came out in a combo pack a while back and I can’t believe all the fuss about it didn’t get enough talk kicked up to get it out alone on Blu-ray. Maybe someone will come to our resue soon.
02: Phantasm
Still no Phantasm. I can only assume that will soon change with news of a new Phantasm on the way. Or we can hope so anyway. Word is Scream Factory will be announcing ten new titles soon, so ya never know what might pop on that list.
01: Silent Night, Deadly Night
I can relax a bit now! Silent Night, Deadly Night which is my favorite slasher ever will be coming to Blu-ray from Anchor Bay this September!
