Now let me start off here by stating that I am not one of those horror bloggers that just tear into Twilight with blind hate, so no hating on it just to be “cool” here. See I have watched the movie (just the first one) and I honestly didn’t care for it. I also have actually read the book, which wasn’t awful but nothing to write home about. But, I’d still say it’s head and shoulders above the movie even with the complaints I still have for it.
But today I want to just talk about the terribly boring movie version of Bella Swan that Kristen Stewart brings to the table. Now in the book it kinda describes Bella as a normal girl, not one that’s overly good looking, which in that department I’d say Stewart fits nicely. However, I’m not sure what Bella was really suppose to look like since word is writer Stephenie Meyer originally had Emily Browning in mind to play her, and we all know shes pretty damn hot.
However, looks isn’t everything with the character of Bella. Bella’s personality in the books seems to be way more likable than Kristen Stewart’s Bella in the movie. In the book, Bella seems pretty friendly for the most part, she seems like your normal girl, just clumsy and perhaps a tad bit socially awkward..your typical teenage girl. Stewart however just seems to freakin’ mope and show the personality of a dead fish throughout the movie. Being pouty and looking all morbid doesn’t really stand out to me as a thing a Vampire would like, but then again Twilight vampires have never been accused of being too “vampire-like” themselves now have they?
But when it all breaks down, I don’t think Kristen Stewart is really doing much acting when it comes to playing her dull version of Bella, because all signs point to that being just the way Kristen Stewart really is. So instead of the Bella we should probably get, we get Kristen Stewart being..well..Kristen Stewart. I mean just look at any photo the girl takes.. You’re rich, lady! Smile damn it!!! I think someone took their Modest Mouse lyrics a little too to heart when they sung “Wore our blank expressions, trying to look interesting..”
Your NOT interesting, Kristen. And that’s part of the problem.
Oh well..maybe I’m still just upset and taking it out on her because Vampires these days no longer seem to look like the Vampires I use to know..
