And The Doctor Says….Glaucoma Free!

Now before I get into this allow me to just say I’m not the type to just ramble on about my personal life in a blog that isn’t meant to be a personal blog. And while what I’m about to talk about here has nothing to do with horror I suppose I could connect the subject of blindness with many horror films like Emily from The Beyond or the poor piano player from Suspiria. Or perhaps we could go into detail of Jessica Alba in The Eye..then again..that probably wouldn’t be a good idea.

But to sum it all up folks, there was a short time period as soon as a month or so back when I wasn’t sure just how long I’d really be able to even keep blogging due to an eye problem and came up and my history (and family history) of bad eye problems.

You can pretty much name a bad eye condition and someone in my family probably has it. Just this past summer my Grandmother had a bad bout with Macular Degeneration that has required eye injections, surgery, and keeping a good watch on to get in order to a point she could actually see.

In my case the story goes back to 1998 when I was told by a doctor (after finding I had high eye pressure) that I in fact had Glaucoma. So picture a 14 year old’s reaction to being told they have something that usually ends up putting you blind? So I go on from then to 2003 using eye drops to lower the pressure until a trip to a eye specialist informed me that I didn’t have Glaucoma all I had was high eye pressure. I was given a drop just to keep the pressure down and me being still young and dumb thought, “well I don’t have it..why take the drop??”. And that wasn’t smart folks.

So long story short my friends, I recently went to get new glasses the pressure was high and the idea of me once again having Glaucoma again came up killing my whole mood and once again drawing into question of just how long I’d be able to see if I did have this eye condition. So I didn’t waste time to get things certain, I went and had every test in the book ran on me and it turns out that while I do have high eye pressure my eyes nerves are perfect! Which wouldn’t be the case with someone who could of had Glaucoma for the past 11 years. As odd as it seems my eyes are able to handle the high pressure they have. It’s a rare thing but a thing I am thankful for none the less. I am once again taking an eye drop just to ensure that it never does develop Glaucoma but to sum it all up all is well.

And thus the day is saved, the future of the blog is no longer in doubt,  and I just felt so happy to hear the news that I felt compelled to tell everyone. So pardon the none horror rambling but let this be a reminder to everyone out there that it’s always good to keep a good watch on your eyes. A lot of times people have vision loss from things that could have been taken care of had you ran to the doctor in a timely manner. Don’t be like me and waste time.

And with that out of the way we now return you to the usual subject matter of this blog..
