It’s always the hot ones..
She’s Crushed (2009)
Directed By: Patrick Johnson (SideFX)
The Prologue
She’s Crushed, which is also known simply as Crushed is not just another boring tale of an overly obsessed woman..however at first you may think it is. Matter of fact I’d dare say if you are going to watch this movie you should well know ahead of time what you are about to see because I didn’t. Not that knowing would have stopped me, I just would have braced myself a little better.
So if you can’t tell already, this is some siiiiick shit here.
The Movie
Tara sets her sights on the unassuming guy-next-door Ray. Their innocent flirting turns into a regretful one night stand which he hopes to put behind him. Tara has different plans for their relationship. It becomes horrifically apparent that she refuses to be cast aside and is willing to go to sick extremes to keep her man as people in Ray’s life are met with torturous ends..
WOW! Just WOW! That’s pretty much my first reaction after seeing the film. While the film may start off as just a Fatal Attraction-like obsessive movie the end results will stab you right in the gut while you watch it and the memory of it will stab you again once you’re finished watching it.
I went into this movie not knowing what I was going to see and what I did end up seeing was just soo dirty that it’s hard to put into words. Now is it something we haven’t see before? Well now that all depends really. If you have seen foreign films that tend to push the limits like Audition or perhaps something closer to home like Martyrs then you probably won’t be able to say you haven’t seen some of this movie’s antics before, as it does use a lot of those same tricks, but the end result is just as hard to watch if not worse at some parts.
Things happen that you don’t want to see happen as people are killed in horrible ways that at times pulls heavily on your heart strings believe it or not. The blood flows by the gallons and on top of it all is Natalie Dickinson playing the role of the obsessed Tara and if you see this you probably won’t be able to ever look at her in any other movie the same again. She really does come across as a psychotic woman and some of what she does even bothered me and I’m pretty much use to this stuff.
The movie does have it’s flaws. It has plot problems, perhaps there’s a bit far fetched things that just don’t add up in it but you probably won’t be able to get passed what you are seeing on the screen half the time as this sick cat and mouse game gets played between Tara and the too easy going for his own good Ray (played by Henrik Norlén) to even care about those flaws.
There’s some laughs tossed in here and there in this movie and some of it really is funny but I don’t think too many of you will be left laughing when the credits roll..Avoid if you are at all weak hearted.
The Conclusion
I think some time down the road, maybe even sooner than later, when people start that untimely debate over which movies are the sickest that you may find She’s Cursed right up there in the same breath with such movies as Audition and maybe even Cannibal Holocaust. It really does have some sick sick stuff in it but it’s highly entertaining on top of that.
Also for an added bonus, if you’d like to just see the character of Tara in a bit of a prelude to this movie she has a youtube channel with video diarys that came out before the movie under the user name “TaraisCrushed”.
