Should I Call This My (Blood) Bucket List??

I’m sure nobody knows this but I’ve had this blog since 2007. While the blog it’s self had been open since 2007 I never really used it. So finally after two years of me starting the blog then erasing all of it over and over again. And after me changing the name of this blog about four times, finally in October 2009 I decided to take my love for horror movies and start a blog about it. Now here I sit typing this with 343 (now 344) post already completed.

While many folks assume the name of this blog came just from my love of the Romero style zombies, that isn’t entirely true. Sure I prefer the walking zombies but the title actually came from a reword of a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event titled “Zombies Shouldn’t Run”. I wasn’t trying to make any kind of statement. I wasn’t trying to stick it to anyone who makes a movie with a running zombie. I simply above all else just though the name sounded cool..

Now one thing you need to know before becoming a horror blogger is simply not everyone just opens up their arms and accepts you into the fold just because you show up one day and say, “Hey! I’m a blogger to, lets be friends!”. Now I’m not saying anyone is really rude but there sure seems to be a bit of a feeling out process and it can take time for folks to warm up to you and just see what you’re about. Even now I myself have folks just now really acknowledging my existence in the horror blogosphere. While there are more than a few bloggers I really do consider to me my friends, one thing you’ll always need to keep in mind is not everyone will like you. Like they always say, you can’t please everyone and if you even try to do that in the horror blogging world you are wasting your time.

And regardless if some folks like my blog or not I’ve actually been really successful with it. I went from having to ask for screeners to having them just sent out to me without me having to ask. I’ve been lucky enough to briefly chat with directors and actors. I even have some major movie companies sending me out stuff, be it not before they send it to the “big” dogs in the horror world but they send it to me none the less. So to sum it up, I’m well pleased with where I’m at. Some folks may not like this place, but the stats and the other things more than prove some folks do.

This finally brings me to my point, everyone in life has a “To do” list or a “bucket” list, things they want to do before they die. So while my list of things that include such activities as getting hitched to Katy Perry and Main Eventing WrestleMania don’t really fit here in my horror blog, I do have a small list of things I’d love to complete or accomplish as a horror blogger. Some are kind of lame, kinda silly really, but I figured why not share them with you guys anyway?

Have my name in a horror magazine
Sure magazines aren’t what they use to be today but still, I’d love to have my name pop up in something like Rue Morgue or Fangoria. While I’m sure my writing skills (or lack there of) would never allow me to have an actual article published in one without the help of a very patient editor, I’d love to just be named in one for something or another. Perhaps if any magazine every wanted to talk about Truth or Dare (Like that would happen) they could talk of my countless complaining on this blog in attempts to get it re-released on DVD. Which by the way, is actually happening if you didn’t know.

Be #1 on HorrorBlips
I’ll be the first to admit this rank really doesn’t mean anything but who wouldn’t be happy just to see their work attached to a #1 rank somewhere, even if it is rather pointless. I’ve been #2 more than once but they always say 2 is not a winner and 3 no one remembers. But at the same time, while being #1 doesn’t really mean you’re the best, it does mean a lot of fellow horror bloggers are linking back to you which means you must be doing something that someone likes and it’s more of a compliment than an actual rank.

Get a quote on the cover of a DVD
Sure I’ve had quotes from my reviews pop up on web-sites for a movie but never has a quote of mine made the actual cover of the DVD. Can you imagine what it would be like to hold up a DVD with your quote and name on it and show it off to your friends and family?

Direct my own movie
Having a blog that gets as many hits as this one tends to get would make getting word out about your own movie a lot easier. The only problem is I’d have to actually find the time to make one. Which by the way if you didn’t know making your own movie takes a lot of time. Matter of fact if I ever dived head first into making one I’d have to probably put the blog on a bit of a hiatus because keeping the posting amount I do now and going through the movie process would be a bit hard to accomplish. However, this may be the most likely thing for me to accomplish out of everything I’ve listed since all I got to really do to make it happen is grab a camera, gets my friends, and start shooting.

With all that being said, what do you other horror bloggers want to accomplish?
