Back in the day when the GREAT state of Tennessee stole acquired the Houston Oilers from crumbling state of Texas I like everyone else knew there was nooo way we were keeping that name. I also held out hope in my heart of hearts that once we reached a new name that my home state would be awesome enough to go with the name “The Zombies”..sadly we went with The Titans.
Now the state has since moved on up in the sports world, we have a hockey team in the Nashville Predators (I hate hockey btw), and we have a basketball team in the horrible Memphis Grizzlies. Now can we take a moment to just ask ourselves WHY we didn’t change the name of the Grizzlies?? I mean hello!! The Zombies is out there just waiting to be snatched damn it!! But could there still be hope??
I love all sports (well besides hockey) and I hold out a great hope that one day before I am dead and gone that Tennessee gets it’s own baseball team because I am a big baseball fan! Without a team of our own we’ve been forced to root for the teams closes to us making most of us Atlanta Braves or Tampa Bay Rays fans (Or Red Sox or Yankee fans if someone really wants to be an ass about it). But how cool would it be for us to finally one day get our own baseball team and name them THE ZOMBIES!!
Now take a look at that logo I spent all of 10 minutes on. Can you picture the merchandise sales?? Horror fans from all around would love to own jerseys that said “Zombies” on them. Even if it couldn’t be a Tennessee team how about we rename another team?? George A Romero started this Zombie craze so one could just see it fitting to have a Pittsburgh team use the name..and who would argue that the name wouldn’t be fit for The Pirates who have long been dead anyway right? Either way, no matter how it happens I just feel it NEEDS to happen! And I hope you all agree.
