If you haven’t figured it all out yet, kids are evil!!

Whisper (2007)
Directed By: Stewart Hendler (Sorority Row)

The Prologue
Looks like we got another story on our hands that deals with a creepy kid. I wish I could say it never gets old but it may be starting to. However with Whisper there’s just enough to hold your attention for at least one more creepy kid movie.

Toss in a few faces you’ve seen other places and you got yourself a pretty good reason to give Whisper a chance before you just toss it aside as a “been there, seen that” movie.

The Movie

Sinister things begin happening to kidnappers who are holding a young boy for ransom in a remote cabin. And for all you fans of Lost out there none other than Sawyer himself, Josh Holloway is our main kidnapper! Believe it or not the man must have some range because I actually liked him in this and I tend to hate him on Lost, probably due to me being a fan of Jack (Party of Five represent!) but that’s neither here nor there..

Also caught up in this mix is our main man from Henry Michael Rooker so you know the acting here is very bearable. Matter of the fact the movie is very well made and well shot so one might have to wonder why this movie hasn’t made more a splash than it has from the time it was released until it’s time on such networks as TNT?

Well besides the obvious way they were just looking for reasons to get Sarah Wayne Callies half naked (That’s not a bad thing), it’s clear the film is lacking in the plot. Why sure the movie packs a little bit of a punch just from the trying to figure out just what the heck is going on factor but if you look closer you’ll understand that the plot of holding a kid random with a twist added on has plot holes so big you could walk through them. That hurt it a bit if you’re a thinker while watching.

But if you’re not and you just enjoy seeing Max (Holloway) looking very confused and pissed off all the while seeing Roxxane (Calliers) walk around half naked then this one is for you!

All jokes aside I’ll be real about it folks, it’s pretty interesting and you catch yourself trying to figure out what’s the matter with people in the movie that is weird enough to cause what you see going on. Add to that a movie that has a few twists to it and you find yourself with what I tend to call “Perfectly Acceptable Movie Making”.

This being the third movie I’ve seen now in less than a year about a creepy kid (this time being a boy) I’ll admit they are starting to wear on me and I’m sure if you’ve seen the movies I’m referencing and perhaps even more then this may be the case with you as well. That being said, it’s a good movie over all and the adding in of a creepy child does indeed make the movie seem creepy..Creepy enough to be worthy of a watch.

The Conclusion
I think it’s better than it gets credit for but I don’t think it’s anything you’re going to want to remember for years to come like you would Orphan.

However if you get bored then let good ol’ Sawyer kill a couple hours for you with this watchable movie.
