Sweet Jesus, it’s pretty bad.

Killer Weekend (2004)
Directed By:  Fabien Pruvot

The Prologue
You never really know what you will get when you dip into the world of independent horror films. However, more times than not, if it’s a new horror film with an old actor that use to kinda be a big deal, that usually means it’s going to be kinda bad to awful. Today’s movie brings us to Killer Weekend with former action star Eric Roberts. Now, can you tell me how this one probably ends up on that information alone?

The Movie
Eric Roberts is here in the roll of big shot Jack Talbot, a man who has a lot of money and a man who is on the outs with his wife. Honestly, he’s went insane and he wants to kill her. But the man won’t stop at just that, nope not at all. You see, Jack wants to kill a whole lot of people. So for the coming weekend, after he learns his wife has invited her two sisters and all their friends, he decides it’s time to finally follow through with his plan to kill a whole lot of people. Think American Psycho, IF American Psycho really really sucked.

I just want to say, God bless you, Eric Roberts. You know I remember Eric from the classic action flicks, Best of the Best. And while classics may be a stretch I guess when speaking of those films, the man does entertain me. However, I think in this movie Eric is just entertaining himself. Clearly, the man knew what a pile of crap he was in and he went for the over the top act, it almost makes it watchable and I can safely say had he not been in it I would have scored it even lower than I did.

See we all know what you get with indie films. This film however is bad for an indie film. The sound is all messed up and choppy, the editing is bad, and nobody here really does a thing for you while they are on the screen besides, Roberts. Also there is all sorts of plot holes and a lot of logic missing during the films run. I don’t like spoilers, but I must mention how horrible it is when one man is badly hurt by Robert’s character Jack early in the film. He then spends the next 40 minutes running around holding the wounds and screaming. Shouldn’t he be dead? Shouldn’t he have ran off the property? Shouldn’t Jack have finished the job?

The film may be worth a chuckle here and there, it may have a few moments of gore, but that’s about all. I think you may find it to be a bit of a job finishing the film as I did. Our best actress gets killed first and the rest of the movie just slowly trots to a staggeringly bad end from there on out. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Killer Weekend is the worst horror movie I have ever seen, but it’s pretty darn close. You get the feeling with the movie that nobody is really trying besides, Roberts. And I think overall that man may have tried even too hard himself.

The Conclusion
I can not recommend this movie to anyone and sleep well at night, so I won’t. Eric Roberts is kinda fun to watch at times, but the thing just has no legs to stand on. However if you do want to see it you can pick it up from Brain Damage films. Which by the way, they have a lot of cool stuff like the Traces of Death films. But as far as Killer Weekend, flush the toilet on this one, it’s a turd.
