Ugh….
The Shadows (2011)
Directed By: Sabrina Mansfield
The Prologue
The movie we are covering today, The Shadows, was a film that arrived in my mail box a looong looong time ago around the end part of last year. I don’t recall ever requesting it, and if I was given a heads up that someone was sending it me to it skipped my memory bank. But none the less, I am sad to report it got lost in the shuffle. I sit it back, it got covered up by tons of other screeners, and I just now got to it. But in a way that works since it’s just now recently been released. So here’s a review for The Shadows, better late than never!
The Movie
So a group of friends have a boat wreck and end up trapped on an island in a lighthouse as weird things start happening and it appears someone or some thing is around them and out to get them. As the story rolls along secrets between the friends and jealousy comes to a head and things are not as they appear in most cases. As we roll along however you may find yourself being withdrawn from the story as the progress in a very none-exciting path that ultimately ends in confusion and disappointment.
Not to pick on this film or be a “hater”, but I bet just by reading the plot up there you can probably guess how this one will end right? Well, it almost ends just like I figured it would, but it’s not the most exciting film I have ever seen. I see we have hot women walking around in their underwear for a time and even that doesn’t really hold your attention that much. And I don’t know about you, but I like women in underwear. So if that still doesn’t make me want to keep and eye on the screen then something is very wrong somewhere don’t you think?
I guess if I was going to point out anything that was good about this it would be that at least the actors seem to know what they are doing. Not sure if they even like what they are doing but they make a go of it and keep it from getting down lower than it actually does. Some of the little plot twist are OK, if not highly expected, but I guess on that front it could be worse. It’s just at the end of the day this movie doesn’t cover any new ground that hasn’t already been covered, and it’s pretty darn boring.
I hate to say that something really isn’t worth watching, but there isn’t much to see here my friends. Hot women, OK acting, OK plot turns, but a really expected ending and it’s not full of any type of excitement. It’s not really gory, it’s not even loaded with any kills that would make you want to watch it. I guess you could say it’s just kinda “there”. And as a result of that the title of the film is pretty appropriate, because it’ll probably remain in the “shadows” of whatever story it’s located. So I’m sorry to say it, but skip this.
The Conclusion
If you’d rather not take my word for it and check this one out on your own accounts, then you can check it out at the web-site for the film. I mean I guess women in their underwear could go a long way with some of you, I myself have a friend that just buys movies with half naked women in them. I guess at this point I am just rambling huh? Either way, The Showdowns,..yeah..not very good.
