I recently got the pleasure of viewing a short film that will serve as a prequel and bit of a back story to a full length film coming next year called, Wireface. Now the short in question was titled, Wireface: In the Beginning, and I will admit that I honestly though it was a prime example of good storytelling that still has a brain attached to it. What I mean by that is, it wasn’t the same ol’ same ol’ dumb stuff that people just use to kick-start a psycho and his path of rage. In the short, we learn what series of events turn a good guy into Wireface. And in a totally realistic element to the story, we learn it wasn’t just one thing, it was a whole lot of really bad things.

What’s even better is the sutlness of it all. You get an idea what might have caused the man to snap, but at the same time you have more questions than answers. Which is GREAT for a short lead-in to a future full length film, because it makes you WANT to see the movie and get all the answers. And that’s just what I want to do, I want to see it and put all the pieces of this puzzle together. I truly think if the feature film is anything at all like the short, we’ll have a smart horror film that packs suspense, action, and down right looks pretty cool as well.

Now until we get that feature film there is a whole world of stuff that came be found at the movie’s official web-site (go ahead and click that there). At the site you will find some cool viral marketing videos that help sell the whole thing and add to the vibe of it, as well as information about a honest to goodness graphic novel that will dig even deeper into the film’s origin.

To be straight with you guys, I find just this whole thing that has to deal with this movie and all the stuff like the short, the graphic novel, and the web-site for it, to all be very awesome. I think this type of marketing is needed more and more these days, and this film shows you don’t have to be produced by J.J. Abrams to have cool stuff happening before the release of your film.  So everyone feel free to check this out and spread the word about it if you feel the urge to. Independent films need all the help you can give them, and I really think this one deserves it.
