The Velvet Vampire (1971) (DVD Review)

The Velvet Vampire (1971)

Considered to be a cult horror classic, follow THE VELVET VAMPIRE  as sleepy-eyed nice guy Lee Ritter and his vapid but pretty wife, Susan, accept the invitation of mysterious vixen Diane LeFanu (Celeste Yarnall) to visit her secluded desert estate. Tensions arise when the couple, unaware that Diane is really a centuries-old vampire, become objects of the pale skinned temptress’ seductions.

Well we have a slow mover on our hands here folks! A young couple comes across a strange lady to invites them out to her place. The girl suspects something is up but the dude just notices a hot lady and goes right along with it. What follows is a slow burning story with strange to shady characters, nudity, and some very weird dreams out of the cast. It’s not a blood bath or anything but it should serve its purpose for fans of older horror erotic movies. It has a bit of both but not enough to write home about.

As the film moves along the danger comes to a head and we see some elaborate plans to take out our lovely female vampire. We also get an interesting twist at the end. What this all means is if you can get passed the slowness of the film it isn’t entirely unwatchable and some could even have a little bit of fun with it. And one more plus is it at least has some cool cover art that looks good on the shelve.
