The Frozen (2012) (DVD Review)
Director: Andrew Hyatt
Where to get it: Ketchup Entertainment
After a harrowing snowmobile accident, a young couple is stranded in the woods and must survive while waiting for help to arrive. Events take a turn for the worse after the disappearance of Emma’s boyfriend, leaving her on her own not only to battle the elements, but also to elude a mysterious hunter who is tracking her through the forest.
We got an interesting film on our hands here today, folks. This is a movie that goes the mysterious route. It shows a lot of creepy and eerie sequences only to have characters wake up ect. It does this in a method to keep us guessing, confuse us, and have us not understand really what is going down until it gives us a twist at the end. This twist at the end comes in hopes that we won’t care that everything we see up until that point never does add up and never does make any logical sense what so ever. And when a movie does stuff like this it’s hard to stay involved. Because let us be honest, to spite every trick used in order to make us forget logic, there is simply no real logical reason as to why these people end up in this situation. And I’m afraid the end twist doesn’t even save that one.
At least we can say that the film is well acted or at least it is when it comes to our lead actress. So yes, Brit Morgan, does try her best to make the best of what she has to work with. Noah Segan has never gave a bad performance in his life but unfortunately he isn’t doing a lot outside of just standing around and looking mysterious and distant. So we have a film that is acted fine enough, but it is a slow and methodical delivery that gives us a twist that isn’t anything new and is used as a crutch to cover up every other plot hole the film has. I’m sad to report that I just wasn’t very impressed by The Frozen.
