The Russian Sleep Experiment Creepypasta Becoming a Movie!

Spread the love

Creepypasta is something you surely don’t want to read alone in the dark late at night. One of the creepiest stories to come from those urban legends is that of The Russian Sleep Experiment. Below, you’ll find info about the actual full-length movie based off the legend!

The Russian Sleep Experiment  (RSE), based on the wildly popular creepypasta and urban legend of the same name, has been successfully realized as a 28 minute, short film, now available for view on MINDPLATE.tv.  Due to the popularity of the story, short film, and even the short’s trailer (now at approximately 110,000 views, you can view here on YouTube), we realize that the feature must be made!

For those who are unfamiliar with creepypastas, they are, to quote Wikipedia, “horror-related legends or images that have been copy-and-pasted around the Internet.  These Internet entries are often brief, user generated ghost or alien stories intended to scare readers. They include gruesome tales of murder, suicide, and otherworldly occurrences.”  RSE is one of the most popular, appearing in and leading many ‘Top 10 Creepypastas’ lists.   We want to make movie history by releasing the first, feature length, creepypasta adaptation, and offer you the opportunity to be part of it!

RSE short film received a great review from film/TV director (‘Xena: Warrior Princess’, ‘Alien Apocalypse’, ‘Running Time’) and veteran of ‘The Evil Dead’, Josh Becker: “The Russian Sleep Experiment is certainly one of the best short films I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of them. It excels in every department: the script is unique, interesting and well-written; the direction is snappy and consistently inventive, the acting is believable and top-notch; the photography is extremely good and exactly what it should be; and it all comes together in what I feel is the perfect length and tone, thus achieving an extremely solid impact in its payoff. This film should knock them dead at the big film festivals. I’m completely impressed, and as anyone who knows me will certainly vouch, that doesn’t happen to me very often anymore.
Jerry Smith, Editor in Chief at Icons of Fright, and freelance writer for Delirium Magazine, Blumhouse, and Fangoria sent us this wonderful quote regarding the short film adaptation of The Russian Sleep Experiment: “It’s a masterwork of storytelling, a completely engrossing and enthralling short film that demands a feature. A true descent into madness and the demons that each character holds. Quite possibly one of the best short films I’ve seen in years. Absolutely gripping.”

RSE is also ranked in the 50 most popular mystery shorts, 50 most popular thriller shorts, and 50 most popular horror shorts, out of tens of thousands of shorts in each category, on IMDb.com.
