3 disc version: The film depicts the psychological journey of a young woman named Victoria. Since her childhood she has been sexually abused by her family. One day she decides to escape but the world is against her and she soon finds herself cast into an inferno of torture and punishment. This causes her unimaginable suffering but she also comes to understand the true meaning of her existence…

What you get with a film like Madness Of Many isn’t something that will be for everyone, especially not your average horror fan that could stumble across it. The film does tell a story of a girl and it breaks what happens down into chapters, with things seemingly getting stranger and more violent as we got along. We also see other characters come into play as well. It comes down to being a very gross and at times bloody art film. One of the things this movie does very often that I don’t care about is have people puking up blood. I’ll just assume going by the way the color of the film is done that they were faking it and puking up fake blood, because I’ve seen those dreadful vomit gore films and that sorta stuff just isn’t for me. I know some folks dig that sorta thing, but I can’t watch them without nearly throwing up myself. I don’t care for the simulated variety as we get here either, and we do get as much of that as we do anything else during the somewhat on the short side running time of the movie. The movie tries to give us a creative story, we hear about our leads past, but when someone is shoving their fingers down their throats, it really just takes me out of it.

But the film does do a few things right. By the time we’ve dived into the movie’s 3rd chapter we are seeing just what the filmmakers can do from the gore side of things. Those bloody moments are the highlight of the entire thing. We get some very cool practical gore effects that I think any gore hound out there will be able to appreciate and enjoy. I just wish we maybe had more of that and a little less of the other stuff. We also get some seriously creepy visuals at times, as the people doing the dirty deeds appear wearing creepy masks with an all black backdrop. It is the type of stuff that certainly cause nightmares, as the movie does at least accomplish the gore and mood, even if the rest seems to be lacking a bit, mainly due to some pacing issues early on. I think overall Madness Of Many will be one of those movies that most will either love or hate with little in the way of being in between. I appreciate the creepy side of it, as I also do the bloody side. I don’t care for the plot, the pacing, or the overused puking stuff, however. Whichever way you end-up feeling about it, at least take comfort in knowing the three disc set comes packed with plenty of other cool things to check-out as well.
