In a desperate attempt to reconnect with her estranged son who is a passionate WWE fan, Rose grabs his attention by joining a rigorous training program to learn to wrestle like a legitimate WWE Diva. She convinces her bored fellow cashiers at the local supermarket to join her challenging new adventure and together they become the “Queens of the Ring”.
WWE have their hand in a wide range of films these days. Everything from horror to comedy to action. That being said, an actual movie with a related plot is rare from the wrestling company. That being said, the story is family friendly and warm hearted one. The acting is fine, the comedy is funny enough, but all in all it is the type of family comedy that is harmless, but not anything that will set the world on fire either. The type of comedy and story we get is fine perhaps for a younger audience, but I think older people will perhaps wants a little more than we actually get. I think me being the age I am, I found the best part of the film was seeing cameos by WWE star the Miz, former Diva Eve, and some guy named CM Punk who I hear is a really big comic book and Walking Dead enthusiast. I wish we had more WWE stars here, but it is OK for what we do get.
Of course the main theme of a film like this is Marilou Berry and second changes. The movie doesn’t preach this theme in the traditional sense, but you should be able to look through some of the slap-stick and see it. Also, to her credit, Marilou Berry, does a fine job as our leading seeking out the world of professional wrestling to re-connect with her Son. You’ve probably seen a million films along the lines of this one as far as family comedy movies go. You might be able to predict where things are going, but you should still have an alright time getting there despite pretty much being able to predict everything. This more for the kids, but you won’t be on the verge of your face melting if you do decide to watch it.
