You know things have gotten personal when your former friends try to murder you, so naturally the reasonable response is to acquire an army of ridiculously overpowered companions and make everybody involved regret their life choices. Welcome to My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha, an anime with a title so long it practically needs its own intermission.

The premise is wonderfully absurd. Light is betrayed by the very people he trusted, abandoned deep inside a dangerous dungeon, and left to die. Fortunately, his supposedly useless Unlimited Gacha ability turns out to be anything but useless. He starts summoning incredibly powerful allies, including level 9999 warriors, and sets out on a revenge mission. Apparently, the best way to deal with a toxic friend group is to build an underground empire and return with enough firepower to make an entire civilization reconsider its social calendar.

And that’s really the appeal here. This is revenge fantasy turned up to eleven, with an underdog protagonist who goes from being treated like disposable dungeon trash to becoming an absurdly powerful force. The whole level 9999 concept is gloriously ridiculous. Most RPG characters spend their time grinding for experience points, carefully managing equipment, and hoping for a decent loot drop. Light basically hits the jackpot and decides that subtlety is for people who haven’t been betrayed by their coworkers.

The Blu-ray brings all 12 episodes together across two discs, with both Japanese and English audio options and English subtitles. The included extras are pretty modest, consisting of clean opening and closing animations. So don’t go expecting a treasure chest overflowing with behind-the-scenes material. This isn’t a level 9999 collector’s edition; it’s more like the standard loot drop after defeating a relatively unimportant boss.

Still, having the complete first season on physical media is a nice way to keep the series on the shelf rather than relying on some streaming service to decide whether it deserves to exist next month. And with a title this ridiculous, it certainly deserves a permanent spot somewhere.

Final verdict: My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha delivers betrayal, revenge, ridiculously overpowered characters, and enough fantasy nonsense to keep the adventure rolling. The Blu-ray is a straightforward complete-season package, although the bonus features are about as generous as a miserly dungeon merchant. If you’re into revenge-driven fantasy anime where the protagonist goes from zero to practically godlike, this is one very entertaining way to spend 12 episodes. Just remember: never underestimate the guy with the supposedly useless ability. He might come back with a level 9999 maid and a serious attitude problem.
