The new killer thriller from director Guy Moore is a roller coaster ride of characters from transvestite prostitutes to lesbian zombies, stoned rappers, feral bushwhackers and the best hitgirl this side of Hong Kong.
There is a lot going on in Troma’s latest release, Bad Mouth. At times you might find yourself confused as to just what that is. We have a film that makes some questionable movies. We have a voice over that narrates us from start to finish and while I do get what they were going for I don’t think it works very well. We also have random title cards with quotes popping up from time to time and while it doesn’t see like a big deal at the start, it does wear kind of thin by the time the movie ends. But that is just getting me start on what happens for the rest of the film before we do get to the end.
There is a lot of odd moments in this one. We have hot women and hot women is never ever a bad thing. We also have rapping zombies and a plot that gets a bit odd and confusing. There are moments when you just want them to get on with things and instead they just have two dead guys sit around busting rhymes until someone finally does something. It is the start and stop that hurts Bad Mouth a lot. Had they not tries to get a little artsy with the quotes and narrative and picked up the pace, I think we would have had a much better movie overall.
