A group of seniors anxiously prepare for Homecoming night in the sleepy town of Winston. Three years after a tragic accident left a student dead at the annual dance, they find themselves haunted by a deadly visitor from their past. Unable to bury old demons, it looks like it’s finally payback time, and someone’s out for blood. Before the night is over, the halls will run red as they are stalked, staked and butchered by a relentless, savage killer bent on revenge. They must stop whoever is hunting them, or this year’s dance is going to be a killer.
The story for this film is just screaming classic slasher. And, to the credit of the film, it does manage to have that old school flavor for a good portion of the film. It also manages to stay half-way witty. I’ll even go as far as to say we have a cool killer costume, even if it does remind you a bit of other slashers. The bad thing about the film that really hurts it is that the stuff it has going for it drops off the map a little less than half way in. We also have some spotty acting that just makes things seem way too forced and awkward.
I also think while there a few moments that blood really gets tossed around, the film doesn’t seem to pack much in the way of kills or gore. Looking at the budget of the film I’m unsure why they didn’t focus more on that part it. That could have really helped a lot and brought this one up over the hump that it just never seems to be able to jump over. It has some cool elements, but it ultimately wastes them away. Don’t even get me started on our twist at the end.
