Breaking at the Edge tells the story of a young pregnant woman who has increasing difficulty determining whether she is losing her grip on reality or whether her pregnancy has enabled her to see into a spiritual world that could threaten the welfare of her and her baby.
It is Slow Burn City population Breaking at the Edge. We watch some creepy things happening and they or may not be actually happening, the questions are there and the movie more less answers them by the end, but I’m not sure I had the most fun time at the home theater waiting for the other foot to drop as I crawled my way through the style of creepy movie storytelling that we sort of get with most of the movie that are done in very similar ways. The actors isn’t to blame for a lackluster time, because I think our cast, especially our female leading lady, are very good and work the best they can with what they have to work with. I just don’t think the movie hits all the marks it was looking to hit and it is a shame, because the movie feels like a honest attempt was made, things just didn’t click.
It is hard to stand out when so many different films do a lot of the same things these days. This movie falls victim to being one of a great many and after seeing as many of those as I have, I just didn’t get a whole bunch out of it. I mean the story remains interesting enough for the most part and there is some shocks and twists along the way, but the movie just doesn’t seem to really kick it up a notch when it needed to and as a result it just wasn’t my type of movie. If you haven’t been overtaken by movies of the same style, then you might get more from this than I did, but everyone else might find themselves a bit bored while watching.
