It Has Been 5 Years Since Zombies DON’T Run Launched!

Five years! Five years don’t seem that long and in most cases it isn’t. Still, here we are on the anniversary of when I launched (if you want to call it that) Zombies DON’T Run five years ago on Blogger.

When I started this site I never even took into consideration that at some point people might send me stuff to review for free. I just made the blog because I wanted a good excuse to re-watch many of the horror movies in my growing DVD collection. I started this thing simply because I love horror movies. I love movies in general, but I always seemed to spend my money on horror ones when out and about buying them. I saw other blogs and thought it looked like a lot of fun, I decided to write a review about Friday the 13th part III and here we are. That first review was long, misspelled, and probably didn’t have a comma in the whole thing, and yet to spite the obvious writing flaws on my part, we’ve made it somehow from there to here.

Over the years we’ve gotten a URL, learned to use a spell-check, moved from Blogger to WordPress, and somehow managed to get enough credibility that I can happily say I get most stuff from companies to review these days. You can’t base the quality of a site on how much stuff they get sent to write about, but it is an accomplishment none the less. You don’t usually make money on these things, so its good to at least get something every now and again.

I didn’t do this alone. As much, if not more credit, needs to certainly be given to Shannon Rullo who does the Cannibal Kitchen section here. She is just as responsible for us getting from point A to point B and so on and so forth as anyone who’s ever had a thing to do with this site. I got to also thank my friends Adam, Ryan, Goob, Brandon, and Roland, who are friends of mine from my hometown who have also helped legit build this site and provide quality through the podcast and other means.

And who would I be if I didn’t thank YOU (whoever you are) that is reading this right now. Without an audience, a blog on the internet would be like peeing in the ocean. Without you coming to this site, sharing links, Liking it on Facebook, and downloading podcasts ect, this site would have never gotten to where it has. I’d probably have never gotten my movie picked up for release had it not been for the fan base of this site either.

We’ve survived bad grammar, stupid online beefs, horrible remakes, the found footage trend, the zombie trend, the vampire trend, and I’m sure we have many more things in the world of horror to come, both awesome and terrible. I don’t know what the future brings in horror, the internet, or anything else. Still, we’ve been here five years and I hope we are here for five more, then five more, and so on and so forth until either zombies, aliens, asteroids, or vampires takes us all out or the government outlaws the internet, whichever comes first.

Above all else I hope you continue to read and enjoy Zombies DON’T Run. I will continue to bring you as much content as often as I can and I will continue to try to make it as entertaining as I can. Once again, in closing, I want to thank everyone for their support for the past five years. You keep reading and I’ll keep trying to not get “Its” and “It’s” mixed up!

We’ve got lots of contest and such coming for the month of October! Stay tuned!
