howsthemovie

This “Emmanuelle” movie doesn’t have anything at all to do with the real Emmanuelle movie. But, if you know how Italian films tend to work, I’m sure that bit of info doesn’t shock you very much. What you get here is pretty much a whole lot of sex. Straight sex, lesbian sex, giant groups of people having sex. I really would have liked to have seen the script and seen just how Mr. Franco had all of this laid out to the actors, many of which I’m sure didn’t mind regardless.

Of course the question of if our lead is out of control does pop up and that leads to a plot that gets shadowed by the sexual stuff, but it IS a Jess Franco movie, so who really wants that much of a plot? If you want some form of a plot you turn to his horror films. If you want that other side of the man you watch something like this. If you are looking for some erotic sleaze and that is pretty much all, then here you go!

Macumba Sexual (1983) (DVD Review)
Directed By: Jess Franco
Starring: Ajita Wilson, Lina Romay, Antonio Mayans
Rated: UR/Region: 0/2:35/Number of disc: 1
Available from Severin Films

It is the film that shocks even the most hardcore connoisseurs of Euro-Sex sagas, a fever dream of unbridled depravity from the bizarre mind of writer/director Jess Franco! The ever-alluring Lina Romay – as her alter ego ‘Candy Coster’ – stars as a young wife haunted by erotic hallucinations of the mysterious Princess Obongo (an eye-popping performance by allegedly transsexual Ajita Wilson. But this self-proclaimed ‘Goddess Of Unspeakable Lust’ has still more in store for this yuppie sexpot and her unsuspecting husband, including lesbian ecstasy, frenzied threesomes, bisexual orgies and beyond!

howsthemovie

They use the term “Fever dream” when talking about this one and I can see their point. We have a hot lead here who dreams of a woman who is seducing her as well as walking around with two pet humans. One thing leads to another and she ends up face to face with this woman and that is where even more trippy and odd things happen on top of the erotic things. We even see Jess Franco himself in a role here and it all seems soo strange, but at the same time is also comes across as very interesting.

The film packs all the sex acts you usually see in these movies by Franco, but this one does take on more of a horror twist. That for my personal taste makes it much more watchable and enjoyable than other films by the man that seems to be more straight forward smut. That means people who like nudity and horror are the ones who will like something like this the most. I, for one, welcome the plot even if it is rather strange. This is certainly one of the better Franco films you will find out there on the market.

Mansion Of The Living Dead (1985) (DVD Review)
Directed By: Jess Franco
Starring: Lina Romay, Antonio Mayans, Mabel Escaño
Rated: UR/Region: 0/2:35/Number of disc: 1

plot

Lina Romay, Robert Forster. Depravity, lesbianism and lust take center stage in yet another sleaze-fest from Jess Franco. Four hungry” waitresses arrive in the Canary Islands on vacation and indulge in more than just the exotic food and a little fun in the sun.

howsthemovie

Jess Franco once again has blurred the lines between erotic cinema and horror in this tale of four girls who just want to have fun until things turn sour. As the film kicks off these women take a trip to a place with a nice view, but a horror brewing in the background. The most of the film is spent with these girls doing things including one another and that can be a good thing, but in a film called Mansion of the Dead you do hope for a little more blood and guts out the gate. It is true we see more female privates than deaths for the most of the movie, but it is Jess Franco so what can you do?

In the last twenty or so minutes the movie does finally get away from the nudity and into the actual horror part of the movie. I do sort of wish more of the film had been like this because when things are actually focused on murder and not fornicating things flow much better and seem more fitting all around. Any Franco film can be a love it or hate it situation, but I think things stay mixed here with things slightly going towards the better. If you love Jess Franco you will love this, if you are iffy, then you may find yourself more the same after seeing this erotic horror romp.

howsthemovie

Rich people doing bad things with poor folks..Or at least that seems to be the point of a film like this one here. We see some plot, but it mostly adds up to sex scene after sex scene until things slowly but surely reach their boiling point late in the film. Franco does what he does best here and if you are into that sort of thing you won’t at all be disappointed. It isn’t as hardcore as some of what you have seen by him, but then again it doesn’t always have to be. The plot here is interesting enough, but it would have been nice to have had a little something more to it.

The film does look nice and extremely nice when you take into account the budget of it. The film has a certain style to it in appearance that you can appreciate it. A great setting for what the film has in it. Of course, the setting isn’t the only thing that makes a movie and the rest is average with a slight nod to the slightly above average. Like I said, it’s one of Franco’s sleave affairs. That alone should tell you what you are getting.
