Having watched and reviewed hundreds possibly even thousands of horror movies over the years, I can take away belief when the situation calls for. Still, there were some head scratcher here when it came to watching Mischief Night. Our lead character, Emily, seems nice enough. She isn’t that bad on screen when she isn’t being asked to have an asthma attack and cry at the same time. That happens a bit, however, so you do the math there. I’ve been told being blind makes the rest of your sense stronger. After knowing this information I can’t seem to figure out why Emily can’t hear a killer in a raincoat stalking up the stairs about three steps behind her in this film. There are more issues than that I assure you.

One of the most creative things this movie does do is find ways to always assure us we never see any nudity. There are some neat camera tricks that cover up people at just the right time. I wish that type of creative juices were directed towards the actual meat and potatoes of the film. The one thing this movie does do very well is some gore effects. I WISH we had much more of that and less of what we actually got. The rest of this one just goes from by the book to silly.
