A small, secluded island off the coast of Belize suddenly finds itself terrorized by a deadly predator from the planet’s distant past, when deep sea divers accidentally awaken an ancient evil. Jackson Slate and his team of underwater cave explorers unearth much more than long-lost Mayan treasure while plumbing the depths of a world famous blue hole. They disturb a creature that’s been hibernating for over 60,000 years – a rampaging behemoth of death and destruction not only at sea but also on land.
It seems like if a new movie is coming out these days it is either a found footage one or one of those crazy out of left field movies like we have here with very cliché ridden plots and weird and wacky CGI. Here, we have a dinosaur who is back and on a rampage! You’d assume that could be fun and the film does give us some so bad it is fun moments. Given the setting, we have a spot for hot women in bikinis to run around and that is never a bad thing. We also have island gangsters looking for gold and getting eaten by our dinosaur friend. Basically, it is your typical SyFy stuff and it is up to you to decide if you like that sort of thing or not.
The acting is mixed to bad. I guess one could give praise for these people being able to keep a straight face when dealing with some of the stuff that is going down here in this wild and weird flick. I’m sure these movies have some audience out there. If they didn’t these things wouldn’t be made like they are. It isn’t MY type of film, but I do get some weird enjoyment from seeing just what weird movie they will release next. Some are watchable and a couple have been pretty good per say. I, however, am not THAT big of a fan of our sea dinosaur friend here.
