Volume one of Troma’s Return to Nuke ‘Em High is rude, unapologetic, gory, and ultimately pretty amazing. If you love blood, boobs, and crude humor you will find yourself right at home with this almost slapstick at times splatter extravaganza. You get the old school ways of Troma mixed with a new school twist, as it seems like they took the best part of classic Troma films like Class of Nuke ‘em High and Tromeo and Juliet and mixed them with the fresh and hip elements of more recent Troma films like Poultrygeist. I have no dought in my mind that if you like any of those you will enjoy this. The plot is very similar to the original Nuke ‘em High, but here we two very hot leads that seem to find lust for one another right at the time we get a new batch of cretins. When you add that up with the two sides doing battle and all the other wacky cameos and characters you can’t help but enjoy what you are seeing.

The film is of course half of a full story that will be completed in Return to Nuke ‘em High Vol.2. That is coming later on. The film does it’s job of making you want to see the other half and wanting to see it pretty quickly. The only real negative to this one is the fact it does sort of end out of nowhere, but that was how it had to be to make you want to see the other volume that much more. I hope more people are as aceepting of this and the fact it is leaving a huge gap open to be finished with the next installment and just take this one for what it is. That would be an often hilarious, crude, and nasty little movie that packs a nice refreshing punch for both films today and Troma. Standing alone, this is a perfectly acceptable film that leaves you wanting more (as it should). When all is said and done, when the complete Return to Nuke ‘Em High is out there, I have an idea that Troma has a winner on its hands.
