With channels that can’t be found on any other cable package and a special offer including a lifetime of free service, one homeowner doesn’t think twice before signing on the dotted line, settling in to check out his new programs. But when the salesman said these shows couldn’t be seen anywhere else, he definitely wasn’t kidding…These series are all part of something more vicious…Something more vile…They’re all a part of…THE CARNAGE COLLECTION!
I’m a big fan of horror anthologies and if you are in the same boat as I, you’ll find something to enjoy about The Carnage Collection. Basically, we see a guy get a late night free cable package. From there we see what he sees and what he is seeing is in the form of a number of shorts that cover a whole bunch of different things. From a Christmas Santa that does a whole heck of a lot more than just stand around for display around Christmas, to a trippy segment, to a man who seems to be a little TOO close to his VCR for anyone’s own good, to stuff to fuel clown nightmares, and much more. Some are longer than other, some are clearly better than others, but together in one whole package that makes up this film, it all flows well enough and gives you a little bit of everything all the while tossing blood on top and taking time for a good dark humor laugh here and there as well. The Carnage Collection isn’t for everyone, but if you are a person who can dig really indie films, it beats a good majority of what we’ve seen released these days by a mile.
The creative side to this thing is something people need to really pay attention to when sitting down to watch it. With what I assume was a very low-budget, everyone here does a great job of making things stay interesting and use the best of what they had to the best of their abilities to make you ignore the low-budget indie side of things. Sure, it isn’t a perfect movie, but it is a fun and entertaining movie and that is what counts. I liked a lot of things here, but I think the segment dealing with the Santa Clause as well as the man and his VCR will be things people really take notice of. Not that we don’t have other cool things to see here, but those stand-out to me as the best of the film. All in all I’d certainly tell anyone who digs a good indie movie or a cool anthology flick to give this a watch. It can be a whole lot of fun and never does bore you from start to finish.
