The Robot Chicken crew takes a peek at what it’s like working in the Hall of Doom, the grief Batman goes through whenever he has to ride in one of Green Lantern’s power ring bubbles, the origin of Starro, and what happens when the DC villains end up on the same beach as the DC heroes at spring break!
I love Robot Chicken! I always have. I would never pass up a chance to take a look at a new DVD or Blu-ray coming from the show, so I was ecstatic to see this release. Once again we are dealing with a DC Comics special, which means if you love comic books (and I do) you will enjoy something like this even more! I really think the only thing I dislike about something like this is that it is only 23 minutes long. That can make you a bit sad regardless of how awesome the 23 minutes are and believe me they are awesome. However, having 90 minutes of extras does work to take away some of the impact of having such a short presentation. Unlike most Robot Chicken shows this one has really one long running storyline more or less with just a little extra tossed in. Jokes overlap and return to give you even more of a punchline later and if you are familiar with comics and the way they work it makes what you see here all the more hilarious. I mean, who doesn’t like to poke fun at Batman and Superman from time to time? We get that and then some here as some lesser character actually get a chance to shine. I just wish we had more joker.
Getting back to the story here, wacky things happen and everyone ends up on the beach as Lex Luther and his grew as well as The Justice League are there to try to split up Superman’s sun from dating Luther’s daughter. Its like Romeo and Juliet only insane with Grease inspired musical numbers and lewd and crude humor that we’ve grown to love with the show. Sadly, things are over before you know it and it makes you sad that its already over, but Robot Chicken is a great show and it says lot wen you always want more from the show. It is something Robot Chicken fans will like, but it is something that DC comic book fans will probably have to get. The bad news is that it is short, but the good news is that it is awesome what we do get.
