The Fright Land amusement park is on the verge of closing down for good. But the park’s owner, Hyde (Hellraiser’s Doug Bradley), has one last plan to sell more tickets… murder. Hiring two backwoods maniacs to break into the park and hack and slash all his employees, Hyde thinks these killings will create a media sensation, but he has just unleashed a horror that no one can survive. A slasher is the 80s tradition that also stars Nivek Ogre from Skinny Puppy fame.
Scream Park is a fun little trip into a style of film that you could have rented once upon a time in a video store in the 80′s. It packs that nostalgic feel because it uses soo many of those classic slasher traits that worked soo well during that time. It mixes some comedy with gore and nudity with your other typical old school slasher methods. That wasn’t a bad thing in the old days and sure isn’t a bad thing today. As a matter of fact, it should be used more today than it is. There is the basics and their is boring, this movie uses those basics, but it doesn’t get boring.
One thing we must note is Nicole Beattie who plays our leading lady in this movie. She really fits the “final girl” role as perfectly as you could want for a film like this. There are other roles that are played well, but she really stands out in a good way and you will be happy that she is on screen due to it. All in all Scream Park is a fun little movie. If you love slashers, then you might want to be sure to give this one a shot.
