Miki, a young and talented ballet dancer is accepted into an exclusive and very private academy run by a mysterious woman named Kaibara Akiko. Miki wants to further her dance education and rekindle her relationship with her boyfriend, but soon discovers all the horrible things forced upon the academy students. She is subjected to constant torture and realizes there may be no escape! With similar tones to Italian horror maestro Dario Argento’s masterwork SUSPIRIA, SEX HUNTER: 1980 is one of the more controversial entries in the Nikkatsu Erotic Films Collection.
Sex Hunter: 1980 is a Nikkatsu movie that does have a real plot on top of the erotic stuff. Like the other Nikkatsu movies that have legit plots, it is a very weird one and might be the weirdest yet. We watch as a young virgin is took from her purness and turned on into the wild world of just having sex with everyone and anyone. This opens the door to very weird uses of a coke bottle and coke it self. Not to mention the best wheelchair scene I’ve seen this side of Friday the 13th part 2 or Mac and Me. I don’t want to give too much details of what happens in this one, but they are just as hilarious as they are shocking. It makes for a very entertaining time.
If you don’t like Nikkatsu stuff there is a good chance you won’t like this one. If erotic stuff just isn’t your thing you won’t dig what you see here. The thing is, however, if you give it a chance there is the chance you might be shocked and weird-ed out, but you will also be amused and entertained. Especially if you can appreciate the weird side of cinema and this is pretty darn weird. I say overall we have a winner in Sex Hunter: 1980. I think it by far one of the best Nikkatsu films in the series.
