plot

Six college friends meet up for a carefree weekend that turns deadly. A terrorist attack in a nearby town infects much of the townspeople with a deadly virus that induces rabies-like symptoms, only far more severe. Several of those infected attack the estate where the friends have been vacationing. Can they survive? Where will they hide? Is anyone left? Will we ever get our fill of these flesh eating zombie fiends?

We’ve got yet another take on the zombie/infected area of horror, but in this one’s defense it does give us plenty of pretty women to look at. Especially at the start of the film. Pretty soon terrorist attacks happen and we have rabid one ear dogs that go on into rabid people who want to eat other people. It isn’t anything we haven’t seen before, but it isn’t horrible and it is still worth a watch. While I’d call it an average film I also say it is better than most of the straight to DVD releases we’ve seen lately. And, did I mention we have a very attractive cast in little clothes in full HD? That is worth something there!

Then we have the bad CGI that hurts things. I understand why they have CGI, I just don’t like how it usually turns out and how it often looks and that is the case here with this movie. CGO splatter, flies, and more things really do hurt the film overall and take away from it a bit in the gore and violence area. Practical effects could have built this one up a great deal. Still, it isn’t horrible and it looks really good. You get the good and the bad with The Demented. I don’t think it will make anyone’s top 10 lists, but it could be a good way to kill some time.
