So, we got a micro-budget, supernatural-thriller that seemed very promising, but somehow doesn’t measure up to what we had all hoped for. The plot sounds good and you would think if you have seen the trailer that this could be a sleeper of sorts, instead it just kind of nearly puts you to sleep at points because nothing much seems to happen outside of odd religious symbolism and the old and tired toss spooky stuff at you method, that they use in order to try to get a reaction from the viewer. Some of the stuff you see looks creepy, but it doesn’t work overall that well unfortunately. This is one of those where you’d have hoped for more, but you will still end up disappointed with what you get as it is basically the same ol’ same ol’ overall.
The acting can’t be blamed, however, as I feel the cast is good enough and does what it can with the material it has, but only so much can be done. Had this been something more along the lines of just witchcraft or something like that I think it would have been better. There is too much weird artsy stuff that doesn’t add up and it goes in un-needed directions that don’t make sense or simply never pay off. Not at all what I was hoping for, I’m sorry to say. Maybe the director is overly creative, but they needed to be pulled in a bit here and there to tone down the mess you end up with.
