The Millennium Bug (2011) (DVD Review)
Director:  Kenneth Cran
Where to get it: Green Apple

When the Haskin family seeks refuge from Y2K hysteria in the isolated forests of the Sierra Diablos mountains, madness and terror find them there. Abducted by a vicious hillbilly clan, the Haskins fight for survival, but neither they nor the hillbilly Crawfords can comprehend the monstrous nightmare about to erupt from the bowels of the earth.

I will be the first to admit that I was very shocked in just how entertaining and fun this movie here was. You never know about movies and sometimes one comes along like this one that just outdoes any premature expectations you might have had. This film takes place on the eve of 2000 and it packs a lot of the stuff movies from that time period had, including questionable green screen. Still I assume was the intent and that this was a throwback to that and in that regards it really does shine on all levels. We have a film that combines the old school Wrong Turn style inbred elements with a giant monster twist. If that doesn’t make you want to watch a film I am not sure what else could.

Combine all of that with the fact that this movie isn’t typical and is loaded with plenty of cool gore spots and you have the making of a movie that shouldn’t have any trouble at all finding its fair share of lovers out there in the horror loving community. You never can be really sure how the story here will end up and we also have a very comedic aspect added into it that makes it all the more enjoyable. If you loved films from the first decade of the 2000s then you should be able to appreciate this for being a throwback. And even if you aren’t that nostalgic it also settles into just being an all-around fun and entertaining horror comedy film.
