Set during the Inquisition, an innocent boy accused of heresy seeks refuge in the convent where her intolerant father has sent his girlfriend. The Abbess, who pretends to assist the young man, turns out to be an insatiable sadist who tortures her and then charges and accuses the innocent girlfriend of murder after the brutal death of her cellmate. In Italian with English subtitles.
The nuns are in a whole world of bad stuff again! But that is clearly what we expect and want when dealing with the sub-genre called Nunsploitation. People that are doing things that they should in no way be associated with what they are doing and it does make for a story that is good enough, but it could have been better. Nuns whipping people can only do so much and we’ve seen it all before.
All in all we have a bit of a love story on our hands as a boy must fight off lesbians to get his girl back. And, this all takes place inside the hallowed halls of a convent. They say this is a film that gets a lot of inspiration from The Devil and I think I can sort of see that. Not as well-done, but it does hold your attention. We also have it looking better than it has looked or ever will look, so it isn’t the best thing we’ve ever seen, but it will be fun to a lot of you.
