Abandoned by her rich industrialist husband on a remote Caribbean estate, Paola befriends Stella, a beautiful local girl who is an adept of a hidden voodoo cult. The two women become inseparable, sharing their most intimate secrets. All goes well until Paola demands that Stella take her to one of the voodoo ceremonies that she attends every week. There Paola falls under the spell of Djamballa, the powerful snake god, from whose magic there is no escape.
In the latest release from Mondo Macabro we head to the islands where a whole lot of dancing, ghost beheading, and voodoo is going on. However, as we make our way through the sexual situations and the voodoo that is soon unleashed due to one “Snake God” I have to ask if the movie or story ever really goes anywhere. I feel almost as if we are left on shore as the skin starts to show more and the more erotic than anything else nature of the film sails off. I’m sure people out there find that these movies are well up their alley, and the transfer on the DVD and all that looks great, but it just isn’t my type of film.
I think the most interesting thing I took away from this one outside the obvious onslaught of our attractive leading lady being nude most the time was the fact that I am pretty sure I really saw a poor goat lose his head. That is the most extreme and bloody thing we see in the entire film. When you hear that the story is based on a woman being taken over by a snake god due to voodoo you use expect a little more than this one gives us. Did I expect too much? Perhaps, but know going in it’s more softcore sex than anything else.
