Scarecrows (1988)

Scarecrows (1988) delivers impressively gory kills and cool animatronic terrors, but its sluggish pacing and predictable twists left me more bored than terrified. If you crave nonstop scare-fests, this one might not be your haunted hayride.

Odds and Ends (11/09/10)

We’ve crowned our “Defaced” shirt winner and have more contests on the horizon—plus a first look at the gritty Midnight Son vampire flick and a reality check on the Walking Dead frenzy. Also on tap: Kanye’s latest Twitter meltdown and why Leatherface 3-D left us unimpressed.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981)

Relive the 1981 TV classic Dark Night of the Scarecrow, where Larry Drake’s innocent Bubba returns as a straw-stuffed avenger, delivering clever chills without drowning you in gore. It’s a perfect blend of old-school charm and haunting suspense that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.

Horno (2009)

Prepare for Horno, a cheeky horror-porn mashup where adult entertainers turn zombie and unleash a riot of gritty gore and laughs. Clocking in under an hour, it’s rough around the edges but surprisingly entertaining.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Horror fans, get ready to cheer (and squirm) as Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees finally square off in a gory, adrenaline-packed showdown. It’s a wildly entertaining crossover payoff that’s worth every second of the ten-year wait.

Dolla Morte (2006)

Step into the delightfully bonkers world of Dolla Morte, where dolls of George Bush, Hitler, Jesus and Dracula collide in an outrageously low-budget parody you’ll need the film’s cheeky epilogue to fully untangle—madness and creativity guaranteed!
