Seeing as today is my 27th Birthday I decided to take a small look back at a cool gift I got when I had just turned five years old in 1988! Which is kind of odd when I think about it because these things actually came out in 1986..Maybe I got one of the re-releases?..but anyway..
Everyone who loves horror tends to have a soft spot for Ghostbusters, and if you were a kid in the 80′s you have a big soft spot for the cartoon, The Real Ghostbuters! Now the Keener toy-line that came with that cartoon was a pretty big deal, like a big deal on a G.I. Joe level. As a result there was a zillion different sub lines to the set and one cashed in a bit on the classic Universal Monsters with The Real Ghostbusters Monsters line that came out in 1986!
Now this line was made up of six toys all with the term “Monster” attached to avoid a lawsuit I’m sure. The figures were The Dracula Monster, The Frankenstein Monster, The Mummy Monster, The Quasimodo Monster, The Wolfman Monster and The Zombie Monster! As you’ll be able to tell from the picture at the bottom the toys were released in other countries as well as being re-released a few times here in states, thus how I got them fresh in a new package in 88′ to spite them coming out originally in ’86.
I really loved these things and if you’re wondering I got Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Werewolf that year.
