While I say this with no intent at all of bragging, I have hundreds of movies. If you are a fellow horror blogger odds are you do to, and you probably have more than I to be frank. However, today I figured I’d just take a moment and show some of the DVDs in the collection I (for whatever reason) am most proud of.
We start off with something that at first glance might not seem too special. Silent Night, Deadly Night is a franchise that isn’t full of great movies from start to finish. Honestly I love part 1, think the garbage day scene in part 2 is funny, and kinda like 3 but that’s it. But did you know that the 1 & 2 DVD set is out of print? I didn’t either when I found it at a Hastings for just 15 bucks a little over a year ago. None the less, it’s cool to have every movie in a franchise.
I know what you are thinking..”What!? That’s just the normal Anchor Bay release of Day of the Dead!!” Well, take a closer look….
This is the (I assume) rare two disc special edition! While not half as cool as The Ultimate Edition of Dawn of the Dead (I have that as well) the two disc version of Day was a gift from one of my dearest friends. Thank goodness she wasn’t cheap and just got me the half priced bare bones version.
I’ve said before that Friday the 13th was THE slasher I grew up with and remembered the fondest. I got this franchise to thank for seeing boobies on the screen for the first time! So with those memories I just HAD to go out of my way and grab every single Friday film there is, even if they aren’t all that great. Now the mofos would come out with special editions of each Friday film after the box set but for now I’m content with this.
I’ve flashed this one before and I didn’t know that not everyone got this version of Poultrygeist! The three disc set came with a 3rd disc that was a karaoke disc. I got this baby for myself for Christmas two years ago..wow time flies..either way, money well spent I’d say.
What we got here is the most limited version of Thriller: A Cruel Picture that you can get! Why is it the rarest? Well I don’t know but this is the version that has the graphic sex still intact! And by graphic sex I mean the scenes of penetration with a man’s balls all up in the camera..not a erotic as you might think..None the less, it’s limited!
And here we have a movie that isn’t really a horror movie but it’s got the music from my favorite album by my favorite band! The special edition of Pink Floyd’s The Wall! One of the weirdest films I have ever seen but the music holds it together. I got this for myself with my b-day money back in 2006. With the rest I got the ECW Bloodsport DVD and spent the rest on my girlfriend at the time for Valentines Day..all money well spent.
