The Bunny Game (2010)
Director: Adam Rehmeier

A prostitute looking for her next meal hitches a ride with a trucker that leaves her praying for her next breath. And while all in all that might seem like an extremely simple plot, it doesn’t really give what you actually see in this film much justice. Love it or hate it, odds are you will not have ever seen a type of film like this, That could of course be a good or a bad thing depending on your taste in films. But to say it’s shocking, would be a somewhat of an understatement.

Creativity is a very good thing in the world of film making. It’s always a plus when someone goes above and beyond the norms of film making and unleashes something that is stylish and creative. And rest a sure that a film like, The Bunny Game, is very creative and different. But also be aware that a film like this is for a certain type of viewer and it’s the sort of movie that could scare the hell out of a whole lot of people who go into it not knowing what they are getting themselves into. Our lead character of “Bunny” does a whole lot (legit oral sex shot on screen) and goes through a whole lot. Having spoke before to the director of this film, I can assure you a lot of what you see was done in a fashion where the actors went all out. Of course nobody died in the making of this, but it does pack elements that makes it somewhat snuff-lite. So the weak of heart need not watch a film of this nature.

The Bunny Game packs a very nice black and white look. And a sound that plays during the thing that is somewhat ear ringing. Not sure I’d call it a theme, but it kicks in to get your nerves on the edge at very tense times in the movie. Our evil truck driver sure is a sinister character and he’s very hard to watch at times. Not due to being a bad actor, but due to being very convincing. I don’t know the actor, I assume he’s nothing like the character here, but he’d make me uneasy regardless. I guess that’s the overall effect of a movie like this. It attacks the senses and leaves you very uneasy. It’s a film that may leave a few more questions than answers when the thing ends. But it’s very different, not for everyone, but different all the same.
