According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to X-Men: First Class will film in January. This means that Jennifer Lawrence will be able to do the film, as well as the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. Catching Fire will likely shoot in August or September.

Since Fox had Lawrence cast for the X-Men: First Class sequel first, they had the right to exercise their sequel option on Lawrence and start filming the sequel this fall. This would have ruined the plans for releasing Catching Fire in early 2013.

Matthew Vaughn will direct the X-Men: First Class sequel, while Lionsgate is still trying to work out a deal with Gary Ross to direct Catching Fire.
