Well greetings there everyone! Seems we are hitting that home stretch where we get Thanksgiving over with and we hit warp speed on the hype machine for Black Friday and all that other stuff leading right into the main event, that being CHRISTMAS!! (woot!)
And it looks like your humble narrator has won yet another DVD contest! (Thats right folks, two in the same month) This one coming from the very cool folks over at Horrorphilia! Soon I shall have in my hands the DVD for the indie horror film Summer School and soon after you will get a review right here..So stayed tuned!
While browsing around I’ve also rounded up some interesting news bits for the world of horror. Over at Dread Central I rounded up the following regarding the relase of Paranormal Activity on DVD and Blu Ray..
On December 29, 2009, the film will hit home just in time to ring in the new year with a scream. The DVD and two-disc Blu-ray include the original theatrical version of the film plus an unrated version with a shocking alternate ending not seen in theaters. No word yet on which ending this will be, but the smart money is on the festival ending. The Blu-ray also includes a digital copy of the theatrical version.
Very cool, I’ll for sure be picking that one up! Also over at Bloody Disgusting, I got the following “shocking” news..
Blair Witch Remake in the Works?
While it’s far from officially announced, Bloody Disgusting caught wind of a sort of Blair Witch Project remake from director Stacy Hopkins that’s getting set to start filming in Glasgow, Scotland, tentatively being referred to as The Blair Witch Remake — a film about three inexperienced filmmakers who set out to shoot a documentary about a local legend.
Also, speaking of remakes…
William Lustig had this to say when he was picking up a Lifetime Achievement Award
“We already made a deal for the remake of ‘Maniac’ – there is a remake of ‘Maniac’ thats on its way, believe it or not. That deal is already closed. Now, Larry and I are in discussions for the remake of ‘Maniac Cop’. We’re not gonna be involved, but we’ll collect a check. Actually, on the remake of ‘Maniac’, it’s gonna say produced by William Lustig, but I’m going to have the least amount of involvement as a producer on the movie.”
Word is the room boo’d at the news and I can’t blame them. I really wish they’d toss a like a 30 year limit on these remakes or something, I mean especially in the case of The Blair Witch Project. Only thing worse to come from this would be word it’s going to all be in 3-D.
