A Story of Fantasy, Sex, and Murder. Evelyn, a young woman beginning her journey into the world of woman-hood and relationships finds out…that the first time is never what you expect it to be. Confused and misguided in her relationships, by her close friend Chris, Evelyn finds herself sinking deeper into her fantasy and neglecting the rules of reality…and as a result the bodies start adding up!
Black Ice is a film that seems to go for a strong artistic style. I believe it attempts to come across symbolic and creative, but only ends up looking like a poor man’s Nekromantik (Notice the cover?). The two movies seem to have a lot in common only things aren’t done nearly as well here. This movie just seem to have no real reason for anything that is going on and it is all shined up as a possible metaphor for people’s frustration with lack of sexual activity. To be simple about it, while I appreciate a movie that attempts to be deep, this movie makes no sense.
The movie is also way too long for a film that goes about its business as slowly as this one does. I see a film here that could have stood to be cut and shortened quite a bit. I won’t say the acting is bad because they seem to have gained a cast that oddly seem to fit in well with their roles. Still, I can’t help but notice we have no sizzle with what is going on. And, I’m afraid that most will be terrible bored with what they see on the screen.
