Some these days just want to remind us that physical media is on the endangered species list. That streaming and downloading is how things have went and pretty soon the movie racks will be as shallow as some CD racks you find these days. Still, we have stuff coming from such companies as Scream Factory and Synapse to remind us that we not only still have a place in this world for discs, but we still can get very excited over older stuff coming to blu-ray. That being the case I’ve made a random list of ten films I’d love to see on blu-ray. So, as far as I know these movies aren’t on blu-ray anywhere..
10: Nekromantik/Nekromantik 2
It might be hard to find anyone to touch a underground title like this, so why not just do both at the same time? The love story of people and corpses is one of the weirdest things I had ever seen when I finally saw these films. There has been talk of a re-release, but that has yet to actually happen. I’m not sure if the material is even there for a blu-ray, but it would be nice.

09: Madman
Madman is one of the more popular second-string slashers you’ll find out there. The movie has been released by both Anchor Bay and Code Red and both releases are now out of print. I’d love to see what a company like Synapse could do with something like this. And, seeing how they are currently doing Prom Night and Curtains, Madman would fit right in.

08: Nightmare
Nightmare isn’t a pretty film no matter which way you look at it. The out of print Code Red DVD was probably as good as this movie will ever get, but one can certainly dream can’t they? Would a film like this lose some of its grindhouse feel on a format like Blu-ray? We probably will never know.
07: Blood Rage
Maybe we should worry about getting a good DVD version of this out there before we worry with a Blu-ray? But if some films are skipping proper DVD releases all together now I can’t see why we have to settle for standard with Blood Rage. This story of mixed up twins, one evil and one good, is just the type of film you’d want to enjoy in 1080p right?

06: The Mutilator
Here is a prime example of wishful thinking. It has long been rumored that the negatives and masters of this one are lost and possible destroyed. So we may never get an official DVD of this thing much less something as cool as a Blu-ray. Still, you just never ever know.
05: Sleepaway Camp
Why on earth has this one not been on Blu-ray yet?? With some of the stuff that has been coming out the fact we’ve yet to see a film like Sleepaway Camp hit the Blu-ray shelves is just mind numbing. About the best thing we have for this film is a long out of print box set that is just begging to be re-released in HD form.

04: The Return of the Living Dead 2/The Return of the Living Dead 3
They can toss part 4 and 5 in the trash and burn them for all I care, but I’d love to get the 2nd and 3rd Return of the Living Dead on a release to go along with the awesome original. Part two may have just been a bizarre-o world remake of sorts of the original, but part three is a severely underrated horror gem.

03: Blood Diner
Not sure what went wrong with this one. Once we had rumors of Lions Gate working on extras for a proper release then all of the sudden this movie pops up on an 8 movie set in bargain bins all around random Walmarts. That isn’t a cool way to handle something like Blood Diner. Maybe soon we can get a proper release for something like this.
02: Phantasm
When Phantasm 2 hit Blu-ray last year from Scream Factory I was more confused than happy. I was confused because I couldn’t understand why we didn’t get the original. I’m still unsure why this movie isn’t on Blu-ray.
01: Silent Night, Deadly Night
I hear rumors all the time about companies working on an HD transfer for this controversial slasher, but I’ve yet to see anything solid come from it. Perhaps this holiday season someone will grant us the pure holiday joy of seeing Billy in his Santa costume doing some list checking in full HD.
