howsthemovie
Anatomy was a German horror film that was given an American makeover in the editing room and released in the states. What that means is we get English dubbed over the German and we get some pretty well-known American songs added into the film. As made over as it seems to be the movie still isn’t half bad. We get some suspense, some mystery, and we get some nice gore that was welcomed. The movie has talented actors that shine through the dubbing and while things may seem to go pretty far-off the rails once we get down into the thick of things it still made for a fun film that never did bore me. The early 2000s still seemed to be in a tiny bit of a Scream kick in horror and this movie shows that in a lot of ways. Still, it is well worth checking out. And, don’t let the fact we have two movies on one disc turn you away, Mill Creek brings the good with a very solid transfer here with nice colors and good details, especially in close shots.

While I don’t dislike Anatomy 2 I will admit that it seemed to lack some of the luster for me after seeing the original. The movie inserts a male lead into the mix this time around and wastes our lead from the last film. It seems like that cameo was just so they could toss her name on the box, which they did back upon the release. We still have some gore due to human dissection and you can’t hardly go wrong with such things as that. If you don’t mind that the film is more thriller than horror you probably will be a bit more forgiving overall. The transfer still looks good, we still have some nice twists and turns, but it just doesn’t do what the original did at the end of the day.
