Three stories of horror connected through the pages of dead girls’ diaries. In one, a ghostly apparition seeks revenge upon the man who betrayed her love and is responsible for her death. In another a mystical object helps a young woman reach out from beyond the grave to exact her revenge against the stuck up sisters of a college sorority. And in the third a young woman who has lost her way and her faith finds the answer to her prayers in the last place she would have expected. “Dead Girls” is a horror anthology similar to such classics of the genre as Tales From The Crypt, Trick ‘R Treat, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Creepshow, and many others.
Dead Girls is an anthology film that has the one common theme through each, Dead Girls. There are all together three separate stories and they all hold pretty fair overall with the injection of very attractive (and sometimes) dead girls being in all three and resulting in massive eye candy regardless if the particular story is up your ally or not. I personally found all three harmless, but feel the second story, Theta Phi’s Never Die, might be the highlight of the entire film as it deals with perhaps the world’s worst sorority and what they do to people trying to join. I think it could have made a fun full length film on its own, but here is certainly stands out in a very good way. I think while you could call the movie fun as a whole, this is the most fun you will have watching Dead Girls.
Our other stories range from murderous love to a prostitute who gets her kicks all the while dressed as a nun. I wouldn’t say anything here is awful, but there are some points better than others and from time to time we do run into a bad acting performance that kind of runs things down a bit for the time being. All in all it is a film that at times can show its low budget roots and that is something it can’t help I’m sure. You still get enough fun here all in all, just don’t go into thinking you will see the next Creepshow and you should have an alright time with this.
