In 1980, Ted Bundy was sentenced to death by electrocution. In the years that followed, he agreed to disclose the details of his crimes, but only to one man. During the early days of the agency’s criminal profiling unit, FBI analyst Bill Hagmaier met with the incarcerated Ted Bundy in the hopes of understanding the psychology of the serial killer and providing closure for the victim’s families. As Hagmaier delves into Bundy’s dark and twisted mind, a strange and complicated relationship develops that neither man expected.
So we are diving into the true story side of things here with this tale of the last years of Ted Bundy. Of course, we know how all of that plays out, we just don’t know about the in-depth details of the relationship between one of the world’s most well-known serial killers and an FBI agent. This is a movie that depends highly on performances from the actors and to their credit, the main two that have to bring the goods here do and they are why this one ends up being as watchable as it becomes. I’ve always been a fan of Elijah Wood and I think he does a fine job here above everyone else. The plot and all of that on the other hand might be where you find some issues with this one.
While watchable and worthy of a good “once over”. I don’t know if this will be a movie you will want to go back and watch over again after you’ve seen it for the first time. I think when all is said and done with it, it might just be one for the just the most hardcore of Bundy fans and apparently, I’d be surprised to know just how many of those people we really have out there. For all intents and purposes, this is a well-made movie that doesn’t do anything to turn you away from it. I just don’t think that all in all it was for me. I’d still say give it a watch anyway.
