Toward the end of the 21st Century two great powers dominated the world, a division that resulted from a 30-year war known as the War of the Hemispheres. The war came to an end with the creation of giant, indestructible mega-robots, the MRAS-2, designed for military missions and balance of power. Recently, the mega-robot has become a tourist attraction and is used for tours through the wasteland. While on one such tour, the MRAS-2 is attacked by an extremely violent terrorist group known as the Murdaggians. Their leader turns out to be a frequent passenger on the mega-robot, Professor B. Wa-Lee, who hijacks the MRAS-2. The only hope to stop the Murdaggians is Lane Drury, the robot’s pilot. But can he do it in time.
Ok, first of all, how do you have Barbara Crampton in a movie during this time period and have her keep her clothes on?? I’m sorry if that makes me sound like a jerk, but we all know Barbara Crampton and most people who were my age during this time remember her for usually being nude, so the movie already bums you out with that. Then we have another big error the film makes. How can you call a movie Robot Wars that is about 70ish minutes long and not have very much of a Robot war? There is like 10% robots have a scuffle, much less a war. That is like inviting someone over for a pizza party and then just giving them a small slice of pizza and that is it.
On top of all that, the thing about Robot Wars is that is pretty much uses everything that was negative about early 90s movies. We have a corny male lead, a very comic book type villain, and some very bad effects, even for a lower budget movie. I’m not sure there is much at all to write home about in the case of this one, but I’m sure people who do dig cheesy films will be right at home with what they get, while the rest of us just roll our eyes and shake our heads at one of the worse efforts from Full Moon Entertainment.
