14 year-old The Orphan only wants to meet the notorious vigilante The Bad Samaritan, but when she comes face-to-face with her idol she finds he’s a little further away from being the fatherly-figure she was hoping for as he threatens her serious GBH. Although he might have something to do with the fact The Orphan has just punched and mugged a woman of her handbag. Pistol in hand she is able to fend him off but she can’t shake of the obsession she has as she sees from her TV he is becoming more than just a lone psycho in a mask. In a world where words such as ‘peace’ and ‘justice’ have different meanings The Orphan decides to go to one of his ‘secret meetings’ and face ‘the hero of the people’ one last time.
As goes with the ways of films from Kick-Ass came Super and from Super we come to The Bad Samaritan. This story of a vigilante is very United Kingdon in it’s presentation, which is good or bad depending on your personal taste. I’ve always been a fan of films from the UK myself, so as a result I dug for the most part what I saw in this very stylish film. Perhaps at times the film was much more broad than the budget could cover, but you get the general idea of what they wanted to do with this film and I think it accomplished enough to be praised.
The film is only 50 minutes long, so you could say it was short and to the point. I don’t think I would have minded more of the movie. If nothing else I think I would have liked some of the comic book that comes with the film to have been shot and mixed in with what we get, but what we get isn’t bad. If you appreciate the above mentioned films you should be able to appreciate this. It also comes with such a cool bunch of extras that is is well worth placing that order to the UK to snatch up. If you like the more gritty side of character films you should like this.
