In the early 1600′s Countess Elizabeth Bathory slaughtered more than 600 young women , believing if she bathed in the blood of virgins that she would stay young and beautiful forever. Still alive today, she s found a perfect hunting ground for her botox as an abstinence educator in a high school . Will the brave young teen feminist blogger and journalist for the school paper finally put an end to the Blood Countess’s reign of terror and save her friend from being the next victim.
Chasity Bites comes across like the love child of Buffy and Juno. It all makes some odd hybrid of comedic horror film that seems more late 80s to early 90s than anything else. I say all that in a good way, because the movie does manage to deliver way more than it disappoints. We have a script that is certainly very different and not by the numbers. The cast is good enough to run with it and make it into something that I feel is very much worth a watch. There is also enough blood to keep horror fans happy as well. The thing could have stood to be a tad more serious, but it isn’t too funny to the point it gets unbearable.
Going back to the acting, Allison Scagliotti, does a fantastic job as our film’s blogging lead. She plays a very smart character and it is nice to see a character that is smart in a horror film. We also get a great female villain here. All in all I would say if you are wanting to watch a horror movie that doesn’t do the same thing every other horror film does, then you should be sure to watch this film if you get the chance.
