plot

At a remote medical facility, a group of seven strangers begin a clinical trial for the experimental new drug: Pro-9. As the untested drug begins to course through their veins, unexpected side-effects start to take hold and several of the volunteers are sent into an uncontrollable murderous rage.

The film we get here is an interesting one in some regards. We have a movie that takes it’s time and builds towards the ending. It is well-made in many regards, but at the same time it could have did more to make things more exciting than what we ended up with. We see a group of people who agree to have an untested drug tested out on them and it shouldn’t be any surprise what comes from this. So, seeing as how we know it is a given things will go bad, I wish they would have just speed up the process and not dragged things out the way they do. Things never seem to get too jump-started even when things go bad for the characters on screen.

A movie like this will take someone who doesn’t mind a slow mover. If you want a film that gets rolling and gives you a reason to care rather quickly this isn’t the film for you. I won’t say the film isn’t clever in some ways with the plot, because it is. We could have had a much better experience with this thing overall had they just went right into it and let the blood just fly at a wild and rapid pace. Instead we get more of a subtle horror experience that did little to hold my attention.
