After an ill-fated weekend of gambling in Las Vegas, four friends on the run from a loan shark find themselves stranded in the Nevada desert. But debt troubles may be the least of their worries when the group discovers that something unearthly may be stalking them. Director Jason R. Miller s UNIDENTIFIED cleverly mixes sci-fi suspense with comedy to create a truly unique take on an otherworldly encounter.
In this day and age we see tons of found footage films and with so many it can be hard to find one that has some little something that makes it at least work checking out. Unidentified doesn’t bring a whole lot of new things to the mix, but it does have some cool actors that at least are funny when need be and they also make the film a lot less boring than it would have been with less actors in those roles. This group of guys go to Vegas, get in a jam we see coming a mile away, and then get stuck in a desert with some weird stuff going on. Like with most found footage films logic seems to be lost more than once, but a cool thing or two does take place here and there.
That being said, I do still wish we have more aliens and less Vegas going on. And, the film does seem to get a little too far into the typical side of things when it comes to these movies during the last part of the film. I think even with that, we still have enough here for most to have an alright time watching. If you get motion sickness some of what you see here might, however, make you a little dizzy, but that can happen a bit with these films. Unidentified has it’s moments, but it also has it’s flaws. I still think you could have just the right amount of fun with it, mostly just due to the cast.
