The Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Clever (2011)
Director: William Butler
Where to get it: Echo Bridge

The ultimate mini-murderer, The Gingerdead Man, is back again—and this time he’s leaving it all out on the dance floor. After escaping from jail, The Gingerdead Man finds himself in a time machine headed for 1976. He arrives in the middle of a roller-boogie contest…but the party is just getting started for the infamous cookie killer. After taking in the sights of the beautiful roller girls, Gingerdead gets back to his old murderous ways, causing more bloody mayhem than ever before.

When we last left out Gingerdead Man he looked like a goner, but in the wold of Full Moon Entertainment we have learned that our bad guys are never ever gone for good. Here in the next entry of the Gingerdead Man series, we have returned to a more fun and crazy style of film. One that is much better than our last entry, and I’m sure I’d take this over the original also. This film does a great job of mixing elements of other films together to make a movie that isn’t what most would call “good”, but it is a fun ride. We have parts of The Silence of the Lambs, Carrie, and a few others all in one here. And while it nearly goes off to the side of too much parody, it does pack enough one liners and violence to make things pretty enjoyable for the most part. And that’s even if the movie series seems to just totally forget about making any logical sense in a timeline/order of events fashion.

While this movie does pack a few good kills and gore spots, it does have a nagging issue that nags most indie films. This movie has way too much bad CGI. And it’s very noticeable and it’s very annoying. There are more than a couple scenes that could have been very awesome had we had legit props instead of the annoying and fake looking CGI. I know this is somewhat the standard for today, but I will continue to hate it for as long as it takes OR until someone finally comes up with some CGI gore that doesn’t look so horrible on screen in indie and some majorly releases films. That being the case here, we still do have some good characters and cast members that pull things together well enough to make what is going down fun. It also works to keep you watching until the very end, and that is really all that can matter in movie watching. So in that sense, this movie, as imperfect as it may be, at least gets the job done and does entertain in a very juvenile (but fun) way. That being the situation, I’d say check this out if you like the series or just dig Full Moon films.
